Trunk Show Report

Great attendance, great food, unbelievably beautiful yarn from Schaefer Yarn and Red Barn Yarn (pictured). I had a great time and I think everyone else did as well based on feedback I've received.

We'll have to do this more often! Tina and I are already planning our next one for the fall.

For those who didn't make it, a trunk show is a special showing of yarns we don't usually carry in the shop. The yarn is for sale, but it's fine to just enjoy checking it out.

I bought some of what didn't sell to keep in the shop, so stop by to check it out!

Heirloom Knitting

Every once in a while someone contacts me about unfinished projects left by a deceased person. My most recent encounter of this kind necessitated the completion of three baby blankets. This kind of project is rewarding in that the projects are useless unfinished and by finishing them, the intended can enjoy them. I enjoyed knitting the border (I had to do about 40% of it--way more than I initially estimated) and I think the finished product is one that will be treasured.

Snowy knitting

The storms have passed (21" + 18" of snow) and we're very slowly working towards normal, though that may not occur for a few more days. Y2Knit is open: thanks to Audrey, Nancy and Dennis I have two parking spaces cleared. The walks are shoveled (better than the picture, which was taken yesterday) and the porch is clear.

Feel free to buzz at the side door
and I'll let you in that way if you want to avoid the walk.

If you want to send someone out to pick something up, like those needles you need to finish a project, call and I'll have it ready. I've been doing that all week! He doesn't even have to come inside.

Friday, Feb 12 is Social Knitting. Come anytime during the day, but expect more people here between 10-12 and 7-9. Consider this a great opportunity to get out of the house! I'll have chocolate and tea.

I also have some sale yarn from Cascade (discontinued colors) and I'm passing the savings on to Y2Knit customers. I have cotton, pima tencel and a lovely angora/wool blend. $3-$5/ball.

I know many people cannot get out of their homes or neighborhoods yet. Don't despair! Share your snow stories here--I've found feeling connected to others the single most important thing through all of these stormy days.

If anyone is stuck and needs help, let me know. I can see what your fellow knitters can do to help. Keep knitting and when you need knitting companionship, more yarn or supplies, visit Y2Knit!

More Snow

I just shoveled about 10" of snow. Snowfall was heavy this morning, but has dropped off, though blizzard still predicted for soon. Shop is closed today--no one is out.

Compare these pics to those below taken after the last storm.

Snow/Weather conditions

I'll post the snow/weather conditions daily on the website. Two parking spots are clear and there is on the street parking. Walkways are clear. Snow has started at 11am. No class tonight (Tues) or Wed. We'll try again next week.

Snow @ Y2Knit

We received about 21" of snow in a big storm. I shoveled a small path so I could get out if needed.

Audrey came by today and we cleared wider walkways and did the front. After a cup of tea, we cleared two parking spaces. Great exercise!

More snow coming, so stop by for more yarn!
